On the afternoon of June 16th, Dr. Christine D. Althauser, German Consul General in Shanghai, Consul Mr. Thomas Triller and Ms. Zeng Hongping, representative of the Science and Technology Department, visited the Fraunhofer Project Center for Smart Manufacturing at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (hereinafter referred to as" Project Center "). Prof. Wang Hao, Director of the Project Center, and Associate Prof. Xue Yuan, Deputy Director of the German Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University received Dr. Christine D. Althauser warmly.

Dr. Christine D. Althauser watched the operation of the Industry 4.0 Smart Manufacturing Demonstration Line. At the same time, they learned about the development of AI Assembly System, Cyber-Physical System, Reconfiguration Manufacturing System, Real-Time Digital Twin System, Human-Machine Integration Collaboration and so on.

During the discussion, Prof. Wang Hao introduced to Consul General Dr. Christine D. Althauser the establishment process of the project center, the progress of technical research and development, and the exchange and cooperation between the Chinese and German teams. Prof. Wang Hao said that he would give full play to the bridge role of the project center and cooperate with the German Consulate to host large-scale cooperation and exchange activities in science, technology, academia and industry in the Lin-gang Special Area.

Dr. Christine D. Althauser affirmed the project center's efforts in the Sino-German cooperation of smart manufacturing technology. She said that this morning, they communicated with Lin-gang Special Area Administration. Both sides were pleased to see Fraunhofer project center located in Shanghai Lin-gang and would continue to give support to the project center. Dr. Christine D. Althauser said, the German consulate would take the project center as the link, actively coordinate the German Chamber of Commerce, in the German-funded enterprises, scientific research institutions and other more exchanges and interaction with the project center, carry out in-depth cooperation, so that more German-funded enterprises and so on landed in Lin-gang for common development.
