IEID 2020 Intelligent Manufacturing Technology & Industry Forum successfully held by School of Mechanical Engineering

University, the International Forum on Innovation and Emerging Industries
Development (IEID2020) – Intelligent Manufacturing Technology and Industry Symposium
was successfully held in Shanghai on September 16th. About 200 guests from the Chinese
Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech),
the UK Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), fortune 500 companies in the
manufacturing sector, and national key enterprises, attended the conference.
The conference was held in an online +
offline form. The opening speech was given by Prof. Lin Zhongqin, President of
Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Academician of Chinese Academy of
Engineering. Mr. Cuntz from German Consulate General in Shanghai was at
presence. Mr. Clas Neumann, Senior Vice President, Head of Global SAP Labs
Network, Mr. Gu Chunyuan, Chief Advisor of ABB Group, Chairman of ABB (China),
Mr. Dwight Carlson the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Coherix, Mr. Wei Yingbiao, Deputy
General Manager of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), Mr. Georges
Andary, Executive President of Bosch Automotive Parts (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.,
President of Bosch Automotive Electronics China, Mr. Zhao Zuozhi, Head of Siemens
Energy New Energy Business Innovation and Service, Head of New Energy Business
in Asia Pacific and China, Prof. Thomas Bergs, Professor of RWTH Aachen
University, Prof. Jiang Xiangqian, Academician of the UK Royal Academy of
Engineering, Professor of the University of Huddersfield, Prof. Wang Hao, Vice
Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University,
Director of FPCSM, and other experts brought nine wonderful presentation around
special topics in the field of manufacturing, 5G+ industrial Internet of thing,
artificial intelligence technology and industrial innovation.
The roundtable session invited Dr. Li
Ruicheng, Senior Vice President, President of SAP Labs China, Mr. Zhang Yu, General
Manager of AECC Commercial Aircraft Engine Co., Ltd, Ms. Huang Xuan, General
Manager of Shanghai Unicom Intelligent Manufacturing Division, Dean of Shanghai
Unicom Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute, Prof. Marco Taisch, Professor
of Polytechnic University of Milan, and Mr. Thomas Sattes, General Manager of
Balluff Automation (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. The forum speakers were conducted in
the form of online and offline real-time interaction. Experts conducted
interactive exchanges on 5G, industrial Internet of thing, ultra-precision
measurement technology, advanced aviation manufacturing, artificial
intelligence technology, future robots, etc., and discussed industrial
policies, the role of technological innovation in promoting economic
development, and the mode of non-profit research institutions in innovation and
entrepreneurship. In-depth discussions on common issues such as the incubation
system and mechanism were conducted to discuss the future trends of
technological innovation and transformation and industrial transformation, and
to look forward to the development prospects of smart manufacturing.
School of Mechanical Engineering of
Shanghai Jiao Tong University focuses on the forefront of the field of smart
manufacturing. Since 2015, it has taken the lead in establishing a smart
manufacturing base in the Shanghai Lin-gang Special Area, creating a new type
of research institution that integrates technology research, development, and achievement
transformation, and gathered multi-level domestic and overseas talents. In
terms of international cooperation, the college has cooperated with Fraunhofer
and the University of Huddersfield in UK to establish the Fraunhofer Project
Center for Smart Manufacturing at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Sino-Anglo
Research Center in Advanced Metrology and Quality Assurances, which made a
platform for international advanced intelligent manufacturing technology
innovation.
Through the Intelligent Manufacturing Technology & Industry Session, experts, and scholars around the world shared insights on the frontiers and future directions of emerging industries in the field of intelligent manufacturing, pooling collective wisdom for accelerating the development of emerging industries.
