On the morning of June 21st, Mr. Li Qiang, the Member of the Central Political Bureau of CPC, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of China inspected the Fraunhofer Project Center for Smart Manufacturing at Shanghai Jiao Tong University under construction. He pointed out that the Lin-gang Special Area is an important strategic space for the future development of Shanghai. It must be planned at a high starting point, constructed in high quality, and reflected the development concept of the future city. The development should target on the top-level international standard, promote the development of high-end industries, accelerate the construction of the main area of science and technology innovation center, fully promote the integration of industry and city, and make more contributions to serving the national strategy and the development of the city.

Mr. Li Qiang and other city governors Mr. Weng Zuliang, Mr. Zhuge Yujie and Mr. Shi Guanghui arrived at the Fraunhofer Project Center for Smart Manufacturing at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and listened to the introduction of construction progress of Project Center by Prof. Wang Hao (vice dean of School of Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University) and German experts. Then they watched the demonstration of Smart Manufacturing Demonstration Line of the Project Center.

Mr. Li Qiang learned detailed information about the technical achievements of the demonstration line. After Learning that the core technology was mostly developed by the research team of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Mr. Li Qiang gave full recognition to it and emphasized that the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements should be further promoted, and the innovative exploration of generic technology services of smart manufacturing should be provided.

Mr. Chen Jie, the Party Group Secretary and Standing Deputy Director of Shanghai Lin-gang Administrative Committee accompanied the investigation.

Fraunhofer Project Center for Smart Manufacturing at Shanghai Jiao Tong University is the first project center established in China in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Association of Germany. It was established on October 14th, 2017 by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Lin-gang Administrative Committee, Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA and University of Stuttgart through contract conclusion.

At the same time, Mr. Li Qiang also pointed out in the investigation that the high-end industry development and the construction of high-quality new city should be held firmly and build the Lin-gang Special Area into a comprehensive node city that matches the excellent global city and the international location of the modern city with global influence.
